Sarah October 2002

Well, after 3 months of enalapril medication, Sarah is doing really well. She has gained weight (no, she is not pregnant), and has a steady heart beat with no worsening of the murmur. I'll take her up to the New Bolton hospital again in a couple of months for an assessment of her current condition. A record breaking hot summer (92 today!) has kept me from riding her regularly, but I have been able to hose her down with cold water, scrape her off, then free lunge her to get her into a little better shape. This keeps her heart healthier, and now that cool weather is just around the corner, we can go trail riding at a moderate pace to keep her fit. You can see from the pictures what the drought has done to the pastures... almost no grass. They get hay, but most of the time prefer finding what few green blades they can. She's had both her WNV shots, so that worry is over.

ain't she purty

"So, where have you stashed the carrots?"

where's the grass?

Her legs aren't really toothpicks, I just had a weird camera angle.

how's this pose?

Her mane needs pulling to about 2/3 current length (she is quite syle conscience).
And her tail needs banging at about 5 inches below her hocks.

I'm gettin as much grazing in as I can.

Jesse, an aged QH and Sarah's best friend. Pretty mare and very calm to ride.
